Sogema Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract for the Enhancement of the Standard Integrated Government Tax Administration System (SIGTAS) for the Revenue Department of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG). A key component of the Government’s Business Reform Strategy.

Since 2004, the TCIG Revenue Department has been using SIGTAS, an integrated information system, for the administration of taxes and business licenses. However, the changing nature of the economy, as well as meeting the increasing needs of tax paying individuals and businesses has made it necessary to upgrade the system.

The SIGTAS upgrade (SIGTAS 3.0) that will be delivered by Sogema Technologies, will introduce many new features that will allow the Revenue Department to take advantage of technological advances to support the voluntary compliance of taxpayers, increase efficiency of the Revenue Department and allow them to communicate directly with taxpayers, as well as make doing business quicker and easier.

When the new upgrade is in place, taxpayers can look forward to a new ePortal, which will allow them to submit their tax returns online, make payments and communicate directly with the tax authorities. In addition, Business Licence applications and payments will be processed online, greatly enhancing the business environment and increasing its competitiveness in the region.
